We Finally Moved to a Bigger Apartment!!!!

After spending 3 months with Alissa in "the smallest apartment that I've ever seen in my life" we finally got moved to a bigger and better place!

Our old apartment was so small that you had to walk sideways most of the time to squeeze through doorways, and around the appliances. When I did yoga in the place I had to move everything on to the bed and most times I would touch the wall when doing the poses!!!

Although we were happy to get out of the slightly claustrophobic shoe box, we both agreed that living in such a small place together has taught us many lessons about life...

Be mindful of how you move in space. The way you move, your posture, your body effects the world around you.

Show respect for and never take large spaces for granted. The outdoors, nature, is the largest space of all.

Keep few possessions. When our bodies die we don't take any of these things with us.

Our new first floor apartment is located about a 4 minute walk from our old place. It's ever so conveniently located between a church (like our old apartment) and a popular pig intestine restaurant! The prominent red bordered window frames and horizontal expanding stairway building design catches the eye of passers by. You can even catch a glimpse of the green, spring foliage of the mountain past the web of wires and cords that litter the sky above.

Our new apartment is located on a much busier block though. In the mornings the block fills up with middle school boys and girls dressed in their white and gray mandatory school uniforms. At night the block is filled with laughing and men who can't seem to walk in a straight line. In fact, on the second night, I could hear the sound of vomit splattering against the pavement just below our window!!! The fourth night three cop cars blocked off our block and were searching for something or someone. I think I'm making it sound worse than it is though because our apartment is pretty much sound proof... Alissa and I really have no complaints, we prefer the lively atmosphere of our new hood!

The interior of our new pad is at least 3 times bigger than our old one (but not as big as our place in Regina). It has new flooring and wallpaper. When we finally got settled into the new apartment, we were almost overwhelmed by the abundance of space. We realized this...

The larger the home, the more one tries to fill it with unnecessary things.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.... but most importantly .... Reuse.
